Indy Parks and Recreation Visit
The Indy Parks environmental education staff will teach the children about winter climate and snow! Mallory will focus on cold dwelling animals in the state of Indiana as she discusses hibernation, scavenging and natural defenses animals have against cold weather. The naturalist from Indy Parks will bring in a variety of resources to help the children develop a love of nature and a desire to preserve our natural resources.

Spirit Week
This week we will have a school spirit week! Monday will be wear your Funshine t-shirt/blue shirt day, Tuesday will be pajama day, Wednesday will be silly hair day, Thursday will be hat day, and Friday will be Hawaiian Luau Day to dress up in tropical/hula clothes.
Usborne Book Fair
Usborne will have a display in our gym of books available for purchase.

Family Time Entertainment presents their Dr. Seuss show live! Readings of these popular books, puppets, and more!
Grandparents Day!
We would like to invite all of the Grandma and Grandpas (or other family members) to visit their grandchildren at school from 10:00 – 11:00! We will have crafts that they can enjoy together and fun activities planned.
Stuckey Farm Field Trip
We will be going on our annual Fall field trip to Stuckey Farm! While on the farm we will see: an apple cider processing plant and sample cider, learn about apples and taste different varieties, learn about changing seasons, pollination, and how apples grow, see and discuss the observation beehive, ride the wagon through the orchard to the pumpkin patch (each teacher will pick a pumpkin for the class to enjoy at school), and we will explore the mini maze and playground.

Speech/Hearning Screening
On Friday, October 5th Funshine will host Speech and Hearing Specialists from Pediatric Speech and Language Solutions. Children ages 2 ½ - 4 ½ can be evaluated for speech, language, and hearing for a fee of $15. Permission forms will be available in September.
Fall Pictures
Teddy Bear Portraits will be out to take photos of the children. Classroom and sibling picture days to be announced.
Parent Teacher Conferences
Be sure to sign up for a time to meet with your child’s teacher this week! This is a time to review your child’s growth and development and go over their developmental portfolio.
Pumpkin Carving Night
Funshine will host our annual family pumpkin carving night. Bring a pumpkin and carving tools to school that day between the hours of 4 and 6 p.m. and let’s get creative!
Costume Party and Parade
The children are invited to come to school in their Halloween costumes! Children can show off their costumes to their friends, and enjoy special treats in their classroom!
